If Someone Would Have Told Me a Spinning Wheel Was So Much Fun I Would Have Gotten One of Them Instead of Kids

My house is a mess, meals have been hit and miss, the Etsy shop has been sorely neglected and I am waaaay behind on blog reading, but my spinning wheel has been working overtime.

I LOVE spinning!

I completed a hat for Katie out of various shades of pink and white Blue Faced Leicester. I wasn't sure how it would turn out after plying since I was just playing around with the roving. I think it came out rather pretty. I ended up making it a bit too long, but since it is only the second hat I have ever knit I think I will forgive myself. Besides, more wool around the ears when it is -30 Celcius isn't such a bad thing.

Here is what I am currently working on....
It is Blue Faced Leicester again, this time in shades of purples and blues. I am going to try doing Navajo plying on this one so that I don't muddy up the colours.

And I just have to show you this tape measure that I picked up in my favourite LYS store the other day. A little white sheep whose tail pulls out for the tape measure! Just too cute! Too bad my kids also think it really sweet and love to pull its tail.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell me how much fun spinning is! I need another hobby like I need a gaping head wound!! I've tried drop spindle spinning, but in a house with cats who assume that *everything* inedible is a toy for their amusement, this is not a fun exercise.

Hmmm--maybe if I give up on learning to machine knit, I can sell the machines and their bajillion bits and bobs for enough $$ to afford a spinning wheel....

I hate to say I told you so... actually, I don't hate it at all. Told you so!

I love both of those yarns, awesome.

And that sheep tape measure... I have to find me one of those. I'd liek to use it as a contest prize later this year. Where is that LYS???

You're a natural when it comes to spinning. Such beautiful yarn you have made and the hats are lovely.

Have you started anything with the noro sockyarn yet?

I bought the exact color last week, but have no idea what to do with it yet.

You have no idea what you've gone and done with your blog!!!
I purchased the row counter set and the gold midas pearl stitch counters and row marker.
And out of she nosiness/boredom/interest I checked out your blog.

I tried spinning once on a top whorl spindle and it was frustrating as all get out. Since then, I've been able to keep the Spinning Bug at bay.

Buy, NO, you just HAD to go and ruin that with your post!!!!

I read it and didn't think much about it..........but somehow my "anti-spinning" brain cells were killed off and then it incubated into a full blown case of "I Want To Learn How To Spin-itis"!!!!

I just emailed a lady in Houston, TX about a wheel that she has for sale on craigslist.

I hope you're happy with yourself for infecting me with your virus!!!

And like KnitWych said.......I need another hobby like I need a hole in the head. EXACTLY!!!!!

~sigh~

I guess it will have to run its course!
Take care!
